choosing sweet fruits from Vietnam: Try Fruits
Vietnam is rich in various fruits all year round, but especially in the summer, seasonal fruits are abundant, so you can taste a variety of fruits that can be called a fruit paradise. However, for those who are having trouble deciding which fruits to choose because there are so many types of fruits, I will vividly share with you the information I found out while going around the market.
July Vietnam fruit paradise
I went around several markets to find out the fruit prices in Vietnam in July. Did you know that in particular, the prices of all fruits go up on the first and 15th days of the lunar calendar in Vietnam? Since I avoided this period, I was able to buy fruits at a lower price than usual. Vietnam is not a Buddhist country, but most of the population practices Buddhism as their religion. So, since they usually buy fruits to offer for ancestral rites, the price of fruits should be doubled.
This is because most people in the country come out to buy fruits for ancestral rites, so postpone buying fruits on that day. Also, there are religious days sometimes, so you should look for them on those days. So, please check them regularly and avoid the misfortune of coming home because the prices are too expensive.
And, like most Southeast Asian countries, you can buy delicious fruits really cheaply in Vietnam. You can buy watermelons locally for 10,000 dong per kilogram. It's about 0.5 cents. It's 500 won in Korean currency, and I bought 3 kilograms for 1,500 won. I ate this for a week by myself.
How to Choose Watermelon: My Own Know-How to Choose Sweet Watermelon
Watermelon is one of the representative fruits of summer. However, choosing watermelon is not as easy as you think. When I choose watermelon, I use the following method. Watermelon with clear black lines and dark color overall: A ripe watermelon has clear black lines and dark color overall.
Watermelon with flat back: It is better to avoid watermelons with pointed backs or odd shapes.
Watermelon with a tail at the front: A watermelon with a tail at the front is a fresh watermelon.
Tips for choosing peaches: Not all cheap peaches are delicious!
There are many different types of peaches and each has a different taste, so I had a hard time deciding which one to choose. I chose the cheapest one among the many, but when I got home and ate it, it was firmer and sweeter than I expected. Peaches cost 40,000 dong per kilogram. That's a little over 1 dollar. When I looked up the Korean price today, I was able to buy it 2.5 times cheaper. I found the peaches here to be more delicious than the ones I eat in Korea.
In Korea, if you buy firm peaches, they usually don't taste this sweet. But here, I was able to taste firm and extremely sweet peaches at a market, not a department store. When I saw it, it was a paradise of fruits. I suddenly remembered it. When I was in Hanoi, I visited Ho Chi Minh Park. At that time, there was a mango tree in the park, and the sky was clear, but something was falling like rain. It turned out to be mangoes. It seemed like 3 mangoes were falling from the tree every second. However, since mangoes were common, I saw that no one took them. That means this place is a paradise of various fruits and berries.
Tip: It is difficult to judge the taste of peaches just by looking at their appearance. Just because they are cheap doesn’t mean they are not tasty, so it is a good idea to try various types of peaches and choose the one that suits you.
