Malaysian Food Adventure: Roti Canai, Teh Tarik, and Fried Rice

Hello, I am travel expert blogger Jones Go! Today, I will tell you about Malaysian food that I personally experienced.

When I first went to Malaysia, all the food was unfamiliar to me. However, I experienced the Malaysian night market the day before and could feel that the food of this country is really delicious. However, I think the reason it is delicious is because they put too much seasoning in it. It is delicious, but I thought that it might be too spicy and I might get tired of it. However, since they are famous foods, I hope you try the foods I recommend today. Please note that there are foods that I do not recommend in other food series.

The various foods that I first encountered during my trip to Malaysia gave me unforgettable memories. In particular, I still vividly remember the flavors of the foods I experienced at the Malaysian night market.

Malaysian food boasts a unique flavor that is a fusion of various cultures. The combination of strong spices and coconut milk adds an exotic flavor, and the colorful menu based on rice and noodles is something that anyone can enjoy.

Nevertheless, Malaysian food is a must-try during your trip. Today, I will introduce you to the three foods that impressed me the most: roti canai, teh tarik, and chicken nasi goreng.

Roti canai, chewy like pizza dough!

Roti canai is one of the most famous foods in Malaysia. Roti canai is a thin bread that is fried in a hot pan, and the dough has a chewy texture like pizza dough. And the dough itself looks really delicious.

When I first saw the process of making roti canai, I felt like I was making pizza. After softening the dough with soybean oil or olive oil, it was impressive to see it being spun in the air like pizza dough. You can check out the detailed process on my YouTube channel.

First of all, since it was my first time eating roti canai, I went to a restaurant where I could watch the process and eat it. After seeing this dough, I immediately thought that anyone who likes pizza would not like it. I think they put soybean oil or olive oil on the dough to keep it from sticking together.

There are many different types of roti canai. You can choose from cheese roti canai with cheese to sweet jam roti canai depending on your taste. There are also various sauces to go with it, but I enjoyed it with spicy seafood sauce, haeseonjang sauce, and curry sauce. The spiciness of the seafood sauce and the flavor of the curry sauce made the roti canai taste even better.

Honestly, it is delicious even without sauce, but the flavor becomes richer when served with sauce. I like spicy food, so I think the haeseonjang sauce was better, but when you dip it in curry, the color and flavor are very balanced. Also, the drink you must drink together is a drink called teh tarik.

Teh tarik, the king of sweetness!

Teh tarik is a sweet drink that Malaysians enjoy. At first, I thought it was coffee and ordered it, but when I tasted it, it was a completely different drink. I thought it was a lavender tea or herbal tea, but it was the complete opposite. It's more like a beverage. And the color is similar to coffee. At first, I thought I ordered it wrong. But when I checked, it was the right order. So I drank it, but it was so sweet that my brain was going crazy. It was so sweet that my eyes almost popped out. It's so sweet.

I was surprised by the extremely sweet taste, but I thought it was a drink that would be good to drink in the hot weather in Malaysia. I understood why it was so sweet because it was so hot in Malaysia and they needed a drink like this.

Teh Tarik is about 5 times sweeter than Coca-Cola. It was so sweet that my eyes popped out. However, once you taste it, you'll want to keep drinking it because of its addictive sweetness. When you're tired from the heat while traveling in Malaysia, a glass of Teh Tarik will quickly recharge your energy. Anyway, I recommend you try it if you see it while traveling in Malaysia. I think it's not bad to try it once.

Chicken Nasi Goreng, Experience the World's Best Taste!

Nasi goreng is a representative food of Indonesia, but you can easily find it in Malaysia as well. Until then, I thought that proper nasi goreng was only sold in Indonesia. In particular, nasi goreng made by Indians living in Malaysia boasts a deep flavor. Here in Malaysia, there are so many different races living together that I have also experienced Indonesian food made by Indians. But it is seriously delicious, and it is not a joke.

I ordered chicken nasi goreng, and the harmony of chicken and nasi goreng was fantastic. The harmony of each grain of rice with a strong smoky flavor and various spices filled my mouth, making me smile happily.

I thought it would be a shame to order just the basic nasi goreng, so I ordered chicken as well, and the harmony of chicken and nasi goreng was really perfect. Nasi goreng was originally chosen as the world's most delicious food, but it tastes even better when it is served with chicken.

If nasi goreng made by an Indian is this delicious, I wonder how delicious nasi goreng made by an Indonesian would be.
