Malacca Food Adventure: Must-Try Wan Tan Mee at Bunga Raya
The taste of Bunga Raya Fried Oyster that we introduced last time is still in my mouth, but today I'm going to introduce Bunga Raya Wan Tan Mee, located right next to it. This is a hidden restaurant loved by the locals in Malacca, where you can taste the essence of noodle dishes.
The shops in this alley are connected to each other, so you can taste two dishes at the same time, which is a special feature of the shops in this alley.
Bunga Raya Wan Tan Mee, a feast of special noodle dishes
The alley of Medan Makan Boon Leong in Malacca is a really special place. You can taste different dishes from two restaurants located next to each other. Bunga Raya Wan Tan Mee is a place that makes you feel like you're in China.
Both shops look like food stalls, but the food in both places will give you a thrill. And since the food from both stores goes well together, I recommend you take the oyster pancake to go and eat it together at the store I’m introducing today. The store that sells the oyster pancake is run by an old couple, so they can’t take care of the restaurant, so you can’t eat in the store, but you can only take it out.
A small space full of warmth
When you enter the store, you can feel the warmth and friendly smile of the Chinese grandfather. Although my Chinese is not good, it felt like we were communicating with each other, which made it even better. Although it was a small space, I was able to enjoy my meal comfortably thanks to the cozy atmosphere.
And this store sells drinks, and I ordered a lemon drink because I was thirsty on a hot day. The person selling the drinks is a separate business from this store. However, since I couldn’t read the menu written in Chinese, he explained the drinks well.
And while eating the noodles, I ate the oyster dish that I got from the store next door, and it was really delicious. Everything was perfect.
The atmosphere of the store is also a unique atmosphere that can only be felt here, and it made me feel like I was in China. And the Chinese grandfather spoke to me in a friendly manner. I don't speak Chinese, but it felt like we could communicate well, so I think it's a restaurant where everyone can smile and enjoy delicious food.
Hand-pulled noodles, crispy pork, and special broth
The menu I ordered was the small size for 6 ringgit. The noodles that came with the warm soup had a unique texture that seemed to be pulled by hand. I'd like to introduce the soup. The food I ordered came with a warm soup, and I think the broth was made by boiling the noodles and meat together, so it was a soup that tasted like noodles and meat. There were 4~5 boiled dumplings in the soup, so I could enjoy boiled dumplings that I wanted to eat for the first time in a long time, in the Chinese style. By the way, I really liked this soup.
In particular, the rich broth that seemed to have been boiled with meat in the broth left after boiling the noodles was fantastic. It had 4~5 boiled dumplings, so I was able to have a hearty meal. And the soy sauce seasoning with the chili peppers provided is provided, and it is delicious when you dip the dumplings in the soup.
The main menu is a combination of thinly sliced crispy pork and crunchy vegetables, giving you a rich taste in your mouth. The main menu, the noodle dish, that I ordered is a dish where the pork is boiled and fried, and the pork is thinly sliced to give it a crispy surface, and the noodles, which are freshly pulled by hand and have a unique texture, are boiled and placed on top of the food.
At first glance, it may seem like there is nothing special, but once you try the noodles for the first time, you will feel like you want to come back and eat them again.
It is even more perfect with the oyster dish that was taken out from the next door
After tasting the noodle dish at Bunga Raya Wan Tan Mee, I had the oyster dish that was taken out from Bunga Raya Fried Oyster right next door, and it was a fantastic combination. The savory taste of the hot fried oysters and the light taste of the noodles were exquisitely combined, filling my mouth with happiness.
