Banh Canh Thu is Vietnam's Hidden Noodle Gem
If you are tired of eating only rice noodles while traveling in Vietnam, pay attention! I used to be a rice noodle fanatic, but I got sick of eating only rice noodles every day, so I started to crave for new foods. Then, I stumbled upon a hidden restaurant where I found a special food that could replace rice noodles.
If you are a traveler who is tired of rice noodles, I highly recommend this place. The restaurant I will introduce serves a different type of noodle than rice noodles. The noodles are similar to Japanese Sanuki udon. The chewy texture of the noodles impressed my tongue and teeth the moment I took a bite, and my head went shiver. I have never seen a restaurant like this in Vietnam. And more than anything, I was really impressed that I could pay this price and eat this quality food. I think I could visit more than 3 times a week.
A hidden restaurant I stumbled upon, banh canh thu
The place I will introduce is a restaurant called banh canh thu. When I first visited this place, the inside of the store was full of locals and foreigners. It was so popular that 70% of the customers were foreigners. I wondered why so many people visit this place and ordered. Even though I visited at 4pm, the inside of the store was packed and even the tables outside the store were full.
A fantastic combination of chewy noodles of Banh Canh Thu
Banh canh thu's signature menu items are No. 1 Fish Noodles and No. 2 Rib Noodles. Both menus cost an incredible 25,000 VND (about $1). The noodles are incredibly chewy like Japanese Sanuki Udon, so my tongue and teeth were shocked the moment I took my first bite. The combination of rich broth and chewy noodles was fantastic. Where in the world can you find such happiness in eating noodles of this quality for $1? Maybe that's why everyone, foreigners and locals alike, likes them.
The ultimate value for money! High-quality meals for just $1
I couldn't believe that you can enjoy such delicious food for just $1. I was so satisfied that I wanted to visit this place more than 3 times a week. I highly recommend it to travelers who value value for money.
Why it's loved by both locals and foreigners
I think I know why this place is loved by both locals and foreigners. Not only is it delicious, but the price is also cheap, so anyone can enjoy it without feeling burdened. In particular, foreigners praised it, saying that they could taste the real taste of Vietnam.
The food I ate at banh canh thu reminded me of the familiar smells I smelled in Korea when I was young. I had a happy time soaking in nostalgia as I emptied a bowl.
banh canh thu also sells kuay, a fried bread. You can enjoy another pleasure by dipping the kuai in the soup, so be sure to try it together. They also sell iced tea, so order it with the noodles to relieve the spiciness.
Banh Canh Thu is Vietnam's Hidden Noodle Gem
If you like spicy food or spicy chicken stir-fried noodles, you can enjoy it more deliciously and spicily by adding chili paste and chili powder for free on the side.
After eating spicy food, order cool iced tea to relieve the spiciness. Kuai and tea are very cheap at 5,000 VND (about 0.3 USD) each.
