Experience Malacca: A Complete Guide to This Historic City
Hello, this is travel blogger Jonesgo. Following my last trip to Kuala Lumpur, this time I would like to introduce you to another attractive city in Malaysia, Malacca. Malacca is a city where Eastern and Western cultures are harmoniously blended, and it has a special charm where history and modernity coexist.
Malacca is one of the cities that actively carried out Malaysian trade. There are many museums where you can enjoy history museums about great warriors and various themed concepts, so you can see them all. When I think of Malacca, I think of Malaga in Spain. It is a coastal city near the Zeeblotter Strait, and since the pronunciation and spelling are similar and both cities are coastal cities, I sometimes think of Malaga in Spain when I think of Malacca, but since they are very far apart, I can clearly tell the difference.
Why should I go to Malacca?
Malacca was once a prosperous city as an important trading port connecting Asia and Europe. The exchange of various cultures has created a unique history, and this remains intact throughout the city. In particular, the beautiful coast, river, and European-style architecture combine to create an exotic landscape.
A fusion of history and culture
Malacca developed into a multicultural city under various colonial rule, including Portugal, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. This historical background can be vividly felt through the various buildings and cultural heritages that remain throughout the city.
Malacca was a central point of exchange between Asia and Europe in the past due to its important geographical location, the Strait of Malacca. This city was immigrated by Chinese people called Nonya, and when I visited the place where they used to live, I was able to see a glimpse of their wealthy lives, almost on a par with European aristocrats.
So it seems to have been a city where various cultures coexisted.
However, you can also enjoy modern things, such as delicious restaurants, shopping, and various other things to do, so I remember having fun during my trip.
Beautiful nature
Malacca has beautiful beaches and rivers, so you can enjoy the scenery where nature and the city are in harmony. In particular, enjoying a cruise along the Malacca River and viewing the city’s night view will be an unforgettable memory. The first reason I recommend visiting Malacca is because you can see the beautiful coast. However, I had to return home without being able to see the Malacca beach. I arrived at a beach near Malacca, but unfortunately, development work was underway, so the entire beach was inaccessible.
However, when I climbed up the ramparts and admired the coast, I remember it being really beautiful. That alone makes it worth a visit, so I’m introducing it to you.
The second reason is because the beautiful river and the houses and shops around it remind me of beautiful Venice, Italy. If you’ve ever been to Venice, this place is so beautiful that you might think it’s the Venice of Asia, so it’s worth a visit. If you visit on weekends or in the evenings, there are always night markets, performances, and events, so I recommend you visit.
Now, I’ll introduce you to restaurants, museums, and landmarks that you must visit in Malacca.
